Animal Rehabilitation Center
“One of the main directions of Feldman Ecopark’s activity since its foundation has been the work on rescue, rehabilitation and return to the nature of animals of different species. During this time, more than 28 thousand animals were helped, including 6 thousand wild animals of Ukrainian and world fauna, 22 thousand homeless pets (Feldman Ecopark Good Home, which operated since 2010, was engaged in their rescue, rehabilitation, search for new owners and solution of the problem of population control using the humane method of catching-sterilization-vaccination-returning).
Since 2018, the company Dovgiy Family Office has been a partner of Feldman Ecopark in the implementation of environmental initiatives and programs of animal rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction.
Feldman Ecopark participates in environmental projects of various directions and scales, in particular, it worked on the restoration of animal populations in Europe, Asia, Africa and the natural heritage of Ukraine. Its specialists, in particular, worked to achieve stable reproduction of black-and-white ruffed lemurs, cat lemurs, mandrills, chimpanzees, and other vulnerable species. We are also implementing a reintroduction program for animals listed in the Red Book of Ukraine to create optimal conditions for their rehabilitation and increase their population. This applies to such animals as the white-tailed eagle, great white pelican, elk, steppe marmot, and Eurasian Lynx. The goal of the program is to further reintroduce the animals and monitor them in their natural environment.
Every year, dozens of waterfowl and shorebirds undergo rehabilitation in Feldman Ecopark, including mute swans, white storks, gray herons, coots, ducks, gulls, etc. Whenever possible, they are not restricted in their freedom of movement and are helped to return to the wild. Songbirds, waterfowl and birds of prey, bats, marsh turtles, squirrels and other animals are released into the wild.
Feldman Ecopark is a priority partner in Ukraine of the World Open Fund for Animal Rehabilitation and Reintroduction WOFARR, an international non-governmental organization that develops and supports programs in the field of environmental protection, ecology and animal welfare, restoration of populations of rare species.
The war caused significant damage to the work of the Feldman Ecopark Animal Rehabilitation Center, but its activity keeps going. The animals participating in the rehabilitation programs, as well as the rest of the Ecopark’s animal collection, were evacuated from the shelling in spring 2022 and are now in different parts of Ukraine. “
